First Steps


Today I took the first steps in development to test out some very basic concepts. In this case take the first steps is quite literally since I took a basic animated sprite (I just wanted to have something pretty to look at while testing) and made an Animator for it. 

It felt really nice having the little fella walk over the screen with the camera following him since I have never done something like that before. It came pretty natural which motivated me even more. It really feels like the good old games like Pokemon and Zelda that I used to play in my childhood.

Lastly I tried out the vision system for my game. I wanted to create an effect similar to the fog of war concept in many strategy games.  It worked pretty well by using the sprite mask of the unity engine. However I havent been able to reproduce the creepy lighting effect I had in mind so I will have to play around with it a little more later.
